iOS is the most convenient operating system for smartphones. Despite the reduced set of features, it pleases with pleasant animations and concise interface design, where everything is done in the same style.
Over the past three years, stock Android and branded shell manufacturers have become much more convenient. In many ways, this was influenced by borrowing functions from iOS. We tell how the imitation of iOS made Android better.
Sound Mode Lever
This hardware feature is an exception in the list, the other features are implemented exclusively at the software level. Lever from Apple borrowed OnePlus. To set the “Silent” mode, you do not need to turn on the screen, open the notification curtain and select it. Three clicks replaced one - just press the lever, and the phone will go into vibrate mode.

In September 2017, Apple rethought navigation in the iPhone X. The Home button was replaced by swipe, which immediately became a reference in terms of convenience and aesthetics. Google later implemented them, although Android smartphones were the first to receive elongated screens - they switched from 16: 9 to 18: 9, then the trend began to increase the useful area of the screen, and the navigation bar began to lose relevance. In Android 9 Pie, their analogue appeared, but in terms of perfection, it is far behind gestures in iOS. In Android Q, they will be improved even more - the strip of gestures will be longer, the “Back” button will be removed.
Widget menu
By default, the svaypu to the right opens the recommendations of Google and the search box, which is already on the main page. This is one of the most useless sections in the operating system.
Xiaomi in MIUI has found a more competent solution - instead of useless Google recommendations, there are widgets in a vertical position. The user can see the news, exchange rates, weather, etc., and not recommended articles. Similarly, widgets are located in iOS.
3D Touch
The feature first appeared in the iPhone 6S. Then she had high hopes for her, but after four years many people do not even know about her. And yet it has improved the operating system - click on the application icon with effort, an additional menu will appear on the screen.
This feature is implemented in Android, only exclusively at the digital level. Hold your finger on the application icon for a long time, and you will see an additional menu. In Samsung One UI, the multitasking menu allows you to enable split screen.
Indicator notifications icon
With the release of Android 5 Lollipop, this element improved then the weak side of the operating system - notifications. To see which applications they came in, there is no need to flip through the curtain - the notification icon was displayed above the icons. In Android 9, they are implemented differently on different shells: in Samsung One UI, the number of notifications received is shown in a circle, in Huawei EMUI, the indicator is always empty and only shows the presence of notifications.
Google Photos
The undisputed advantage of iOS over Android is the ecosystem, with which the user can use the iPhone and Mac as a single device. One of its features is the instant transfer of photos through the cloud, so Apple has revolutionized and allowed to transfer files wirelessly.
The function is implemented on Android, here the files are transferred via Google Photos. Activate the sync, and a copy of the photo or video will instantly be created in the cloud storage. Then download them to the computer is not difficult.
Application collapse animation
The page seems to collapse into the application icon. So the user understands how to reopen the program. The system gently forces to study it.
Application Permissions
In Android 7 Marshmallow, developers have taken care of user privacy and expanded the ability to control the access of third-party programs to smartphone data. Imitation iOS helped Android reduce the gap in terms of convenience and aesthetics. In terms of design, the green robot still lags behind - there is no unity in design solutions, on iOS, developers are given tighter guidelines, so the interface and application icons are made in the same style.
Imitation is not the only thing that contributed to the Android breakthrough. In addition, the operating system offers exclusive features like application cloning. So, you can create two icons of the messenger and link two accounts to them.
In general, now Android is a full-fledged alternative to iOS, and the choice between operating systems depends solely on the user's preferences in design and functionality.
