The BBC reports that the British chip developer ARM has informed staff about the suspension of its partnership with Huawei in order to comply with US trade sanctions.
ARM management instructed employees to terminate all active contracts, support and other obligations with Huawei and its subsidiaries as a matter of urgency. Despite the fact that the corporation is based in the UK, most of the ARM projects are related to technologies of American origin, which means that the US trade sanctions will be implemented by the company to the full.
Huawei and ARM worked together to create most of the Kirin chipsets, including the latest Kirin 980 processor, which is installed in the Huawei P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and even in the recently announced Honor 20 Pro. Such a restriction thickens the clouds over the Huawei mobile unit, which will be very difficult without access to ARM technologies.
